Douglas R. Balyeat, Esq., CPA
Doug Balyeat, an attorney and Certified Public Accountant, is the principal partner in BALYEAT PS, LLC. Prior to starting BALYEAT PS, LLC, Mr. Balyeat was an attorney with Alston & Bird LLP and Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker, LLP. He concentrates his practice primarily in financial matters, including: estate planning services (preparing simple and complex wills and trusts, estate planning and asset protection, and assisting in the probate and administration of estates); corporate law and business planning (public and private capital raising transactions, venture capital financings, and mergers and acquisitions); preparing, reviewing and negotiating contracts and agreements (including asset and stock purchase, registration rights, shareholder, employment and non-disclosure agreements, and license agreements); counseling emerging companies (negotiating term sheets, counseling clients, and advising start-up companies); tax planning and tax controversies, among other specialties.
Mr. Balyeat also currently teaches as an Adjunct Professor of Law at Emory University School of Law.
After graduating cum laude with a B.S. degree from Western Kentucky University in Accounting, he practiced as a certified public accountant with Ernst & Young LLP. Mr. Balyeat graduated cum laude from Wake Forest University School of Law, where he was invited to join the Wake Law Review and was a member of the Order of Coif.
Mr. Balyeat is admitted to the State Bar of Georgia and is also a member of the Atlanta and American Bar Associations, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Tennessee Society of Certified Public Accountants, Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants, Technology Association of Georgia, the Board of Directors for PushPush Theatre (former), and the Board of Directors (former) and Finance Committee of AID Atlanta.
